Creativity in Cascadia

How does Creativity work?

Creativity loves friends. My creativity is often heightened when I am with other creatives who I enjoy and vice-versa. And our talks and walks.

Creativity is simultaneously a relaxed & stimulated state, it’s energizing, it’s very in the moment. It gets stronger with practice & love. And it can either strike, often when out and about in Nature or just out or in or on the road, but it also can be summoned when desired for a work.

Creativity loves freshness & inspiration and meeting new people, spontaneous talks, design challenges. It likes the water, the shore, swimming, or out floating on the water.

My creativity likes it when I am up in trees looking out at the view, or upside down purposely like in a handstand– not from emotional overwhelm, although that can work. It likes heights, and new fresh concept & ideas, and beautiful works. Creativity needs expression, and it needs to grow.

Creativity also can be a double edged sword, and can turn on one and manifest in dark false imaginings, and I don’t have an answer about that, but just to be aware that there is a facet that can be destructive and awareness and solid belief in oneself is a counter that can be played & it might just be as simple as that awareness to stay on the good foot.

Creativity is good for the world, and everyone’s creativity is as unique as they are, and when it comes together it’s hell yeah!

Rise Up! Action Band is a new rally band in Seattle, who’s mascot is an Action Crab and comes out to support the Marches for solidarity, the cause, and righteous vibe. Coming to May day workers rights next. Power to the People!

“We gather together to play music and perform at resistance events. We use music, chanting, dancing, and performance to amplify the uproar made by the thousands of people enduring and witnessing injustices in our communities. We do this for the oppressed and voiceless, and for the betterment of all people. We create more than music, we create solidarity. We are Rise Up! Action Band.”

Surf Incubator

Started on an awesome environmental solutions and awareness gig at Surf Incubator in downtown Seattle, a short skate to Pioneer Square. Loving it!

Seattle is amazing! Such an excellent place to be for a young professional/musician. Played music tonight with a great friend, and omg we sounded so good together, just singing our hearts out! Talked about playing out, we’ll just have to see where it goes, but in the meantime, I am thanking Santa and the Universe for my good fortune with my latest client, and it’s for the health of our Planet Home to heck yeah. Peace.

Creative Mornings & Practicing My Passion

What an awesome discovery in Seattle, Creative Mornings!

8:30 in the morning and awesome vibes! My first Creative Mornings and I felt like a kid at Great Adventure, well, that’s an exageration, but after all I am a creative. But totally fun and pretty exciting. This time it was a talk on “Fantesy” And it was at Cinerama which is a dope venue.

And also I have been practicing my passion, my PASSION!

Which is making cool art. And playing so much music. As I strive to find the right gig in Seattle, I have been busking it (drums and guitar in turns), almost every day to make sure I am not cutting into my savings, and it has been really awesome. I am getting so much better at music, which is my main passion.

Blink 182 at Key Arena & Impressions

The Blink 182 show was amazaVIBES!

I didn’t have a ticket but I showed up outside and when the doors would open huuuge clouds of BLINK VIBES wooshed out into the patio of Key Arena in Seattle Center. The Mariners were playing last night too, and I was at SafeCo drumming when my buddy the ginger pedicab driver told me about the show. I’m pumped that I hit up the Blink 182 show. Not to be missed, oh no.

Then this morning I was checking out the show on the Instagram feed, it really tied together my random outside encounters with the whole picture. Like this kid who was pretty upset for being “the only one who got kicked out for crowd-surfing” He wanted to send a message to his friend inside using my facebook acct. I guess his phone was still inside. I couldn’t help because my droid is a hot spot only device. And there was no Wifi outside the show.

I saw the same crowd from the stage this morning on Instagram, and of course as they emptied out into Seattle Center I was in it, I wanted a shirt, but the merch tables were all inside and guarded pretty fiercely– I guess. Enough to keep me away at least, as it were.

Heck Yeah Blink Lit Up Seattle Center with their fans and and electric current pumping out of the the Key Arena. I encountered many crowds last night, and pedicab drivers. Seattle was poppin, it was good bike riding. And…

There are a lot of people that live on the street here in Seattle. Copious sidewalk campers, and hella tent villages. It’s actually….. yeah. We have to help them. Ideas and Activation. There are madd resources. The Gates Foundation is here, and so much more. This morning I was riding around in Occidental Square— I have a crash spot in Pioneer Square so I can be out and about downtown (quite possibly my fav part of the city) hella early– and, there was a free outside store event in the Square with all these clothes and bananas and bedding, and such– nice stuff. And good branding and signage. No doubt a well funded community event, I rolled up and was like ‘sweet jackets on that rack’. But the line was all around the square. And the vibe was a little spooky too. So I kept moving. But yea, MUCH need here, much help and further to go…

And then this morning at Zeitgeist coffee, this brother was standing outside the cafe screaming, first we couldn’t see him, then he came into view. It was so early at that point that I could imagine practically seeing a big black dragon, filling half the street that he was screaming at. And then he moved on, and croissants were served and the beat goes on. We’re all in this together, this is how your garden grows.
