I joined a new app to find collaborators in Cascadia. I’ll report about how good it works for me and vice versa, called Shapr.
Also joined a team to work on an app/site/media for Taming Bigfoot, a contest in the Seattle area (total leading city in prototyping/activating the clean energy movement). My bandmate & I were talking on the bus the other day, if you want to help things be better, in this case healthier environment, go find the others who are already doing that and help them… et voila.
We’re on our way & we got that fire. It’s more than a start, it’s a fire!

This freelancer has been in a new bustling city for 5 months now and a healthy routine has emerged yeahyah, and that includes daily morning meditation and from there has emerged a mindfulness– that feels divine.
From being more mindful I can see habits I have that are taking away from success at least the way I want to experience it, which is being in the creative zone for one thing, or just with a good workflow on. This feels splendid. So one of my new habits is to really hype myself to myself for all I’m accomplishing, and take my time about it, instead of riding myself so hard and just take it easy in this world (: You know?
As for now I can see that I can be even soooo much more grateful, just so grateful– AND SEE WHAT’S GOOD, for what I’ve got going on any given day and love on that. And so accepting of others and kind/patient and treat myself that same way. And be really brave but easy going about it. Always up to vibe with other humans thru the experience of anything we are trying to get done, and appreciate that too.
Our habits create our destiny and our daily joy in life and I have some awesome neccesary ones for a thriving freelancer that I have started, and I am running with them, for the next 96 days no matter what, I am committed to my killer freelancer habits. Then, after 96 days they will be my habits because that’s how it works, after 30 days something you do on a daily basis becomes your new way. One of my new habits is meditation & yoga, –SUN SALUTATIONS ROCK– it’s helping me work way more relaxed and as a creative, we really need that. Take care of yourselves everyone. We’re all in this together after all. Peace.
**And I haven’t been busking every day like I said, I was, but my routine changed, but I have been practicing guitar and singing everyday so no doubt that’s one of the habits that is feeling so damn good. And I plan to get back out there to Westlake again soon and get back on the busking train, tis the season.
Branding. It’s not all about branding, but you gotta do it. Here in Seattle, we have “Art Walks” –heck yeah! and they’re lots of fun, also called Art Crawls. I am pumped that First Thursday in Seattle is on the 1st of December, that’s only 4 more days! It’s gonna be a blast, and THEN….
Anna Thoreau has her first Solo Art Show at the Ballard Art Walk. It’s exciting and excellent motivation to level up the freelancing propaganda, branding, and online portfolio. Prints will be sold, as well as, the “It’s All About Music” painting created a midst the epic creative vibing at illustrious Painting with a Twist‘s grand opening, in grandiose & rising downtown Detroit, the art capital of the sweet earth, ya.
“Sea of Aire”, A painting by: Anna Thoreau, influenced partly by the Portugal The Man song of the same title is part of the “Wall of 100 Makers” currently touring Detroit art venues. #wallof100makers
Sea of Aire is my first painting I did right when I first became friends with one of my besties a rockin Detroit based Artist, and her soul sister. I was totally newb to the art scene and we three exploded that night in a beautiful soulful live-painting session at the Lofts off the Riverwalk close to downtown Detroit. The Diamond D.
It’s pure creativity from the soul of this world. I painted it when I first started busking playing the bucketdrums at the Lions and Tigers games.
Basically, it’s coming into myself as a freelance creative be it music I’m free-styling, writing, painting, or coding it’s pure expression from budding talents and friendship blooming in an hour –the kind that cries, and laughs hysterically and makes your heart grow. There’s a rawness and a vulnerability that has to be present to create works like this.
